SafePrescribe

SafePrescribe is a collaborative program with Nebraska Medical Association and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services that provides one-on-one education of healthcare providers through individualized peer-to-peer education.  Trained physicians and pharmacists complete brief educational sessions with prescribers around opioid prescribing and treatment needs. The meetings are intended to be carried out face-to-face, but in the current Covid-19 environment, the program has adapted a virtual model.

Each visit includes discussion of one or more of the following topics:

1. Co-prescribing of naloxone with opioid prescriptions
     view the Naloxone brochure

2. Using the Nebraska Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP)
    view the PDMP brochure

3. Avoiding/reducing co-prescribing of benzodiazepines and opioids together
view the Co-prescribing Benzodiazepines and Opioids brochure

4.  Medications for Addiction Treatment including opioid and alcohol use disorders
view the Medications for Addiction Treatment brochure

If you would like to participate in these educational interactions, or would like more information about the program, please contact Program Coordinator Eric Hamik at erich@nebmed.org or call him at 308-627-7808.
