Nebraska Tobacco Cessation Week November 12-16

November 5, 2018

Governor Pete Ricketts has proclaimed November 11-17 Nebraska Tobacco Cessation Awareness Week.

The Nebraska Medical Association is proud to partner with 26 state and national organizations to reduce tobacco use in Nebraska. A list of the week's events can be found here.

Available all week is a free two-week supply of over-the-counter nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) available through the Nebraska Tobacco Quitline: 1-800-Quit-Now (784-8669) or 1-855-Dejelo-Ya (335-3569).
While supplies last. To qualify, the caller must be a Nebraska resident over the age of 18 who is ready to quit tobacco, register with the Quitline, and complete one coaching session. Callers will be screened for medical eligibility to receive the free NRT.

Physicians wanting to participate and encourage patients or their family members to quit smoking can download free posters to hang in their office.
