The mission of the Childhood Obesity Prevention Project is to mobilize and engage physicians as advocates in their practice, communities and for statewide policies to prevent overweight and obesity in Nebraska children. To carry out its mission, the Childhood Obesity Prevention Project will provide:
• Education and Clinical Resources
• Community Outreach
• Policy Advocacy

Who We Are
The Nebraska Medical Association advocates for physicians and the health of all Nebraskans.
With a mission to prevent overweight and obesity in Nebraska children, the NMA’s Childhood Obesity Prevention Project works as a statewide collaboration to provide healthcare professionals access to and assistance with: education and clinical resources; community outreach; and policy advocacy.
The Childhood Obesity Prevention Project is sponsored by a grant from the NMA Foundation, and developed in collaboration with the Nebraska Medical Association, Teach a Kid to Fish, and Lancaster County Medical Society.

Nebraska currently has several physicians and healthcare professionals mobilized as champions addressing the growing epidemic of childhood obesity in our state.
Working in the areas of community collaboration, raising awareness of the obesity epidemic in their communities, disseminating consistent prevention messages and advocating for policy change, physican champions are working to improve the health of Nebraska children.
